Product Care
Rugs
Care for rugs by sweeping or vacuuming.
Rotate rugs regularly to avoid wear due to vacuuming and foot traffic.
Nest recommends professional cleaning for all of our rugs, water or solvent based
cleaners may cause discoloration in wool or silk.
Leather
Leather is a natural material and therefore varies in color from piece to piece.
Care for leather by dusting or lightly vacuuming.
Leather absorbs water and oils very easily therefore do not leave liquids in contact
with leather for a long period of time.
Nest recommends professional cleaning for leather.
Parchment
Parchment is a natural product from the calfskin, lambskin or kidskin.
There will always be variations in color, pattern and texture even within the same
piece of furniture.
Wipe parchment with a slightly damp cloth (water only) and dry with a clean dry
rag.
Metals
Never use solvent based cleaners or alcohol based cleaners on metals.
Use ultra soft cloths to polish.
Consult a professional to clean tarnish metals.
Cast Bronze
Cast bronze must be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth or a vacuum brush.
If dirty, use a light soap and water mixture to clean and wipe dry with a clean,
soft dry rag.
Polished Metal
Clean polished metal or polished stainless with a damp cloth.
Do not use heavy duty cleaners as they will ruin the finish.
We recommend Brasso, Simichrome or Flitz to clean polished metal.
If the surface has a wax coating these cleaners will remove the wax coating.
Wood and Lacquer
Wood and lacquer have been stained to bring out the beauty and grain of the wood.
Dust with a dry rag or feather brush.
Do not leave hot/wet items on the wood and avoid excessive heat or humidity as this
will cause drying/damage to the wood.
Do not use commercial wax based products to clean wood or lacquer.
Glass and Crystal
These can be cleaned by wiping with a damp cloth or glass cleaner with no additives.
Lamp Shades
Most of our lampshades are made from silk or high quality thick paper.
Dust regularly with a soft cloth.
To remove small marks from paper lamp shades use a white eraser and gently rub the
mark away.
Usually heavy staining cannot be removed from lampshades.
